Notes:
“Lowell’s Container” takes it’s name from the protagonist of the 1972 film Silent Running.  Set in an ecologically devastated future, the film recounts the refusal of Freeman Lowell to relinquish his control of the Valley Forge botanical vessel. Reconstructed for this work is one of the soil containers that Lowell uses to tend the plants in his geodesic dome. Played through the structure was a field recording made at my grandfather’s allotment on the day he had to leave it due to ill health. This work was destroyed in a studio fire in 2003.
